Introduction to CIPP Technology

CIPP, or Cured-In-Place Pipe, is a modern trench-less rehabilitation technology that allows damaged pipelines to be repaired internally without the need for excavation or demolition. Traditional plumbing repairs involve breaking walls, floors, and tiles, which leads to high costs, extended timelines, and inconvenience to residents. In contrast, CIPP technology creates a new, seamless pipe within the existing damaged pipe using advanced resin-saturated liners.

This technology is particularly effective in high-rise buildings where plumbing systems are complex and deeply embedded within structures. By eliminating the need for digging, CIPP ensures minimal disruption while delivering long-lasting performance.

Application in Residential Buildings

High-rise buildings consist of vertical stacks and horizontal lateral pipelines. Vertical stacks are the main drainage pipes running through the entire building, while lateral pipelines connect individual apartments to these stacks. Over time, these systems suffer from corrosion, cracks, leakage, and blockages.

AWEI’s ElastPro CIPP solution addresses both vertical and horizontal pipelines effectively. The technology is adaptable to small diameters ranging from 50mm to 150mm, making it ideal for residential plumbing systems.

Solutions for Individual Apartment Owners

For individual homeowners, plumbing issues often result in bathroom leakage, damp walls, and recurring repair expenses. Traditional solutions require breaking tiles and reconstructing bathrooms, which is costly and time-consuming.

With CIPP, repairs are carried out through existing access points such as toilet outlets or floor drains. This eliminates the need for demolition. The process is quick, clean, and efficient, allowing homeowners to resume normal usage within hours.

Benefits include cost savings, zero mess, no relocation, and a permanent solution to leakage problems.

Solutions for RWAs and Housing Societies

For RWAs and building management, plumbing failures across multiple units can become a recurring and expensive problem. AWEI offers complete building rehabilitation solutions using CIPP technology.

Vertical stack relining can be performed from rooftop access without opening shafts on every floor. Horizontal pipelines under slabs or inside walls can also be repaired without excavation.

This approach minimises resident complaints, avoids disruption, and provides a long-term upgrade to the building’s plumbing infrastructure.

Installation Process

The AWEI installation process is systematic and technology-driven. It begins with CCTV inspection to identify defects within the pipeline. This is followed by cleaning using high-pressure water jetting to prepare the pipe surface.

The ElastPro liner is then saturated with a thermosetting resin in a process known as wet-out. The liner is inserted into the pipeline using inversion techniques powered by air or water pressure.

Once in place, the liner is cured using hot water, steam, or UV light. This hardens the liner to form a durable, jointless pipe. Finally, robotic cutters are used to reopen service connections

Technical Advantages

CIPP technology offers several technical benefits. It creates a seamless pipe that eliminates joints and reduces leakage risks. The materials used are resistant to corrosion and chemical damage, ensuring durability.

The system is designed to handle bends and complex geometries commonly found in residential plumbing. Advanced resins prevent sagging during vertical installations, ensuring consistent quality.
